


The Directors are at the centre of the Partnership. They decide what the Partnership’s role is and what it hopes to achieve based on the needs of community organisations in South Sheffield. The Directors decide the strategic aims which the staff team work towards, as well as ensuring that the Partnership’s house is in order legally.
Andy gained a degree in Environmental Science, before joining Groundwork in 1993. His work in coalfields communities in North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire, and subsequently in Dearne Valley, involved getting local people involved in regeneration.
He joined Heeley Development Trust in April 2001. Andy served as director of numerous social enterprises, and is Chair of Governors at Anns Grove School. Andy was a founding director and Chair of South Sheffield Partnership.
Upon being re-elected in 2007, Andy said he remained “committed to the ideal of a strong, independent voice for the communities of South Sheffield, influencing statutory service delivery within our neighbourhoods, and working collaboratively to deliver our own answers”
Dennis’s commitment to community regeneration builds on experiences during his career with Yorkshire Water authority, where his roles included joint Secretary of the Health and Safety and Welfare Committee, and Senior Craft Steward.
Dennis went on to be treasurer of Local Links and Arbourthorne Detached Youth Project. He has also been Chair of Arbourthorne Pioneer Forum, later Secretary of Arbourthorne Community Forum, and a Sheffield Homes board representative.
Dennis has been involved in South Sheffield Partnership since its inception, was a founding director and since being re-elected in 2007, chairs the Quality and Policy Group.
Dennis, who has been awarded the MBE, says he aims to give the Partnership “support and encouragement- to develop its focus for the betterment of South Sheffield communities”.
Harry completed 32 years service within the Manpower Services Commission/ Employment department, before spending over a decade in the community regeneration field.
His roles included SRB2 Scheme Manager and Partnership Manager at Lowedges Community and Safety Forum, gaining specialist experience of funding, company law, staff recruitment and the community sector.
Harry has also played an active role as a "Friend of" both Greenhill Park Bradway Community hall, while retaining his involvement in Lowedges Forum as a Trustee and Treasurer.
Harry became South Sheffield Partnership's Treasurer after being elected as a Director in 2007, which he describes as an opportunity to "contribute to, and benefit from, effective partnership working with like minded organisations."
Jane is the newest addition to our Directors, and we are delighted to have her on board as our new Company Secretary.
Jane is a long serving director of Gleadless Valley Community Forum. She works for Sheffield 50 plus, the Shadow Council for over 50’s.
Jenneffer brings expertise in developing community projects and an extensive knowledge of community outreach and arts regeneration project work.
She is the Head of Learning Development for Sheffield Galleries Museum Trust. Before that she worked for Sheffield Arts Education as the Senior Arts Education Development Officer.
Jenneffer stood and was elected in December 2007 because she believes passionately in "the transforming effect [the arts] can have on the lives of individual and community members."
John has been active in the local voluntary and community sector as a volunteer and paid worker for the last 30 years, including a 25 year term as secretary of Heeley Residents Association, several school Governorships, and Chair of the Park Heeley Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) Board.
He has been a director of numerous organisations including Sheffield Black and Ethnic Minority Environmental Network (SHEBEEN), Sheffield Reclaim, SCEDU and Heeley Development Trust.
Professionally, he is head of strategy and funding at Heeley City Farm.
John was closely involved in setting South Sheffield Partnership up from 2001, and was elected as a Director in 2007. He says “I see my role as a director as helping to bring new ideas and positive changes”.
Ken Curran has been involved in public life for over 60 years. During this time he has served on two local Councils, been a Trades Union Officer for South Yorkshire, and an Local Education Authority (LEA) School Governor.
A renowned political philosopher, Ken has been a guest speaker at Sheffield Hallam University, and written pamphlets on his concerns over the social and economic impact of climate change.
Ken serves as a director at Enable, MaTrec, and Workbase, in addition to chairing Manor Assembly and Manor & Castle Development Trust.
A founding South Sheffield Partnership Director, Ken was re-elected in 2007, saying “I am interested in the social and economic future of South Sheffield in order that we are able to influence policy and wellbeing of the community”
Kim has been involved in the regeneration of Norfolk Park for over 15 years, and has been a director, trustee and company secretary within numerous organisations.
Her career has ranged from social enterprises to Office Management in the commercial building sector, while her regeneration roles have seen her tackle everything from community events to monitoring returns.
Kim is working with the Partnership to establish a network of agencies on Norfolk Park. Kim was elected as a Partnership Director in 2007. She says “I want to ensure that all areas are represented and that the whole of South Sheffield continues to move forward and becomes sustainable”
Larry has worked voluntarily as Chair of Woodthorpe Development Trust since its inception in 1996, giving him a sound understanding of what it takes to run a successful community organisation.
He has also held a number of key voluntary posts around the city and further afield including chair of OFFER, chair of Local Links, and a member of Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) Heart of the City and the national Urban Forum.
Larry was one of the founding Directors of South Sheffield Partnership, and was re-elected in 2007, with the aim of "moving the Partnership to the next level - working in a transparent and honest way to promote not only South Sheffield Partnership but our sector as a whole."
As Broomhall forum manager Linsey has a wide understanding of forums and the voluntary and community sector. She has a particular interest in youth, training and community cohesion and over the last three years has worked with the forum to develop a track record of delivery in these areas.
She is a trustee board member of Sharrow community forum, she is enthusiastic and committed to the sector and has a good grasp of the issues that affect it. Linsey has particular experience in working in a diverse community and overcoming differences by working together across divides.
Linsey feels it is important to give voice and influence to local communities, with a bottom up, community led approach.
Mary brings a focus around employment, training, social enterprises and small businesses to the Board.
She is currently Chief Executive of Workbase, the community based employment and training service which she joined in 2000. Prior to this she was Assistant Policy and Programme Officer for economic strategies at Sheffield City Council. She also worked with Government Office on the Objective 2 programme.
She has company director experience gained from other community based organisations including Manor Development Company.
She was elected as a Partnership Director in 2007, and says she sees it as a priority to “bring together members of the community sector, ensuring a stronger voice to influence policy”
Maxine Greaves joins the board as vice chair.
Before joining the board Maxine was involved with South Sheffield Partnership and the South Sheffield B&ME Cluster through the Black and Minority Ethnic Governors network.
