FURD based in Sharrow, specialises in delivering anti-racism work with various communities, locally, nationally, and internationally. This work ranges from delivering education in schools, colleges, prisons, probation, youth centres, and local community groups - to providing football coaching, football development, and educational resources via their exclusive in house information, their resource centre and their online programme.
FURD offers volunteering opportunities for 16 - 24 year olds through the millennium ‘Volunteering Scheme'. Opportunities include sporting placements and DJing. FURD provides advice and consultancy for professional and amateur football clubs as well as local football associations looking to implement or improve their anti-racism strategies.
FURD also participates in national and international anti-racism campaigns and consultancy work. At a local level FURD supports amateur teams with a strong ethnic minority presence, with starting-up, administrative duties, disciplinary procedures, and league meetings. FURD's 'Streetkick' programme includes an inflatable football pitch that is taken to "Hotspot areas displaying racial tensions." It allows the practical game of football to work alongside the educational aim of the project.
