Local Learning Opportunities Relaunch with the Valley Education and Skills Project
Get online day was held in 3 local venues, Valley Online Centre (Gleadless Valley), Heeley Development Trust & Centre in the Park (Norfolk Park). Overall the 3 events attracted over 100 local people into the UK Online Centres, around 60% of these people had never used the internet before and made it their first time online.
All the events had fun and activities including dance, music, card-making, massage and cookery. All had the opportunity to play the 'Challenge the Walkers Game' showing people how they could save time, money & hassle by going online.
The biggest event was at Valley Online Centre and was part of the re-launch of the newly refurbished online centre and 'home' to the Learning Champions for both Gleadless Valley and Heeley. It was great to see many of the local councillors there including Frank Taylor, Gary Weatherall and Bob McCain as well as representatives from UK Online Centres and many of our partner organisations. Everyone had a great time so a big thanks to everyone who was involved in making the 3 events a great success. Valley Education & Skills provides a wide variety of local learning in and around Gleadless Valley, Heeley & Norfolk Park in partnership with UK ONline Centres and Lifelong Learning & Skills Unit.
